SENSITIVITY RISK ANALYSIS OF COLLAPSED BUILDINGS
Abstract
This study is aimed at identifying the need for an in-depth investigation into the causes of building collapses in Anambra State in a bid to help reduce the frequent occurrence of building collapse. Â Destructive and non-destructive tests were conducted on concrete samples. Sensitivity analysis was used in assessing the probably causes of building collapse. Direct contributors causing building collapse were identified for each site investigated to ascertain their level of severity. Results showed that design factors, detailing and specifications have low sensitivity whilst foundation, engagement of quacks, quality control and procedural causes portrayed high sensitivity values. This paper is informative and will help professionals in the building industry to know where to focus more attention during construction in a bid to prevent building collapse either during or after construction.
