EFFECT OF ALKYD RESIN COATING ON THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF RECYCLED COARSE AGGREGATE
Abstract
The goal of this research was to determine how resin coating affected recycled coarse aggregate concretes compressive strength. This will make it possible to use concrete waste effectively. The work expands the use of recycled aggregate by treating it with alkyd resin to increase the adhering mortars ability to absorb water to create coated recycled aggregates of various thicknesses. Recycled aggregates were submerged in resin solutions with varying resin concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. The concrete samples were put through tests to determine their slump values. The samples of concrete were subsequently tested for compressive strength for 7-day, 14-day, 28-day and 56-day. It was shown that when resin content increase, the values for slump increased, and the concretes compressive strength increased as coating concentration increased.
